Is that Gucci Mane or Wiz Khalifa? If you were blindfolded while listening to the music video for the rapper’s latest freestyle, “Burgh Boy,” you might be questioning its meaning. In reality, it is the latter, and it is his most recent release, which is scheduled for 2025. Over the past several months, he has been extremely active, a level of activity that was perhaps inevitable by now. The highly experienced MC was on a roll, particularly during the last few months of 2024. Wiz Owens frantically promoted the sequel to Kush & Orange Juice, releasing four singles between October and early December. Following that mini run, it’s been revealed that at least Don Toliver and Smoke DZA will be participating guests on the project. The release date for the sequel has yet to be announced.
Wiz Khalifa has shown the same enthusiasm for releasing new music in 2025. Wiz has been actively working on his YouTube channel, particularly with the freestyles mentioned earlier. His most recent offering, “Burgh Boy,” takes a step back in time to the early days of trap music and his career. This particular track is reminiscent of Guwop’s mixtapes, with its dreamy sound effects and lyrics that frequently reference marijuana use. You may be surprised to learn that this beat doesn’t sound unfamiliar. This song is essentially a reworking of Luh Tyler’s single “Florida Boy,” which was released on January 31. The young artist has been experiencing significant success with this particular track, which has garnered over three million streams so far. Wiz Khalifa delivers a standout performance and it seems we can expect even more scorching tracks in the near future. On his Instagram, he subtly hinted that the next few weeks were going to be enjoyable. Mr. Khalifa’s curiosity was piqued as a result.
