How Nathaniel Bassey Avoided The Influence Of A Juju Practitioner

Nathaniel Bassey reveals what his children ask during games

Nigerian gospel minister Nathaniel Bassey recently recounted an incident in which he allegedly resisted an attempt by a traditional spiritualist, whom he referred to as a “juju man,” to place him under a spell.

According to Bassey, this encounter occurred on an expressway and was the second time he had faced the same individual. During a worship session, he described how the man approached his car and began what he termed an enchantment, seemingly aiming to compel him to act in a specific manner.

Bassey stated,

“I just stood there and laughed,” explaining that he countered the man’s actions by reciting Bible verses promoting divine protection. He mentioned a verse that says, “Touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm.”

He observed that the man stayed nearby, apparently anticipating that the spell would take effect. However, Bassey, relying on scripture, referred to another verse: “There is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel,” which affirmed his conviction that the attempt would not succeed.

Eventually, he exited his vehicle and instructed the individual to leave immediately. In retrospect, Bassey expressed that he wished he had held the man until authorities could arrive.

He remarked,

“I don’t know how we knew, but this was the second time that this same guy, the ‘juju man,’ was coming. One time on the express road, he came and knocked. He was casting an enchantment, hoping that it would influence me. He was commanding me to do something, but I just stood there and laughed.

“I said, didn’t they tell you that as they went from one kingdom to another, He suffered no man to do them wrong; He rebuked kings for their sake, saying, ‘Touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm’?

“I just regretted that I should have kept him there for the police. While he was there, he was waiting for the spell to work on me. But Numbers 23:23 says there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel.

“I came out of my car and ordered him to get out of here, you dirty devil, quick. I’m not saying this to boast, but while we do not glorify the devil, there is wickedness in the world.”

Bassey used this experience to emphasize his belief in the importance of spiritual vigilance, indicating that while he does not celebrate evil, the incident illustrates the reality of spiritual malevolence and the protective power of faith.
