Davido has shared insights about the unexpected journey of “B4 B4,” noting that this notable track from his recently released album, ORIADÉ, was not originally intended for him.

In a recent interview with Carter Efe, the Afrobeats artist explained that the song was initially developed by Mayorkun and emerging artist FOLA, before he was invited to add a guest verse.

Davido mentioned that the collaboration shifted when Mayorkun decided to include the song on ORIADÉ.

“They put me on the song. Na Mayorkun & FOLA at first, then Mayorkun sent it to me that he wants me on the song. When I did my verse, Mayorkun said I can have it for my album.”

This insight offers fans a glimpse into the collaborative nature of the creative process within the Nigerian music industry, where songs can evolve significantly before their public release.

In addition, Davido revealed that “B4 B4” almost did not make it onto the album. He stated that ORIADÉ had already been finalized, and he had reservations about including the track until a familiar voice in his team encouraged him to reconsider.

“I had already finished the album and I wasn’t sure if ‘B4 B4’ would get on it. But Israel DMW said, ‘Oga the song sweet oh, abeg.’ But at least he didn’t leak it like ‘Flex My Soul.’”

This lightheart remark prompted laughter during the interview as Davido referred to a previous incident involving Israel DMW.

Since the album’s release, “B4 B4” has quickly become a fan favorite on ORIADÉ, with many listeners commending the dynamic between Davido, Mayorkun, and FOLA.

Davido’s recent comments have further contributed to the excitement surrounding the track, while also emphasizing Mayorkun’s influence in its development from a collaboration with FOLA to a key highlight of Davido’s sixth studio album.
