Nigerian music artist Davido has expressed a new outlook on his career, stating that he is no longer pursuing Grammy awards or seeking validation from the Western music industry.

In a recent appearance on the Official UK Afrobeats Chart Show with Eddie Kadi, the acclaimed artist discussed his journey and how his priorities are changing.

Davido noted that he has accomplished many significant milestones, including performing on prominent stages worldwide, selling out venues across various continents, and receiving multiple Grammy nominations in recent years.

“At this stage of my career, I have performed everywhere, sold out every arena, and attended three Grammys in the last three years,”

he mentioned.

With these achievements behind him, he indicated that his current focus is on creating music that reflects his African roots rather than conforming to Western musical trends.

“The upcoming music is very Davido, it is very African. We have done it, so I am not really looking to do Western sounds,”

he stated.

He also highlighted his strong connection with fans in South Africa, where his music has gained significant popularity over time. Through collaborations with South African artists and multiple certifications in the country’s music scene, Davido has continued to enhance his presence across Africa.

As he transitions into this new phase, it is evident that the Afrobeats artist is prioritizing authenticity over external approval, embracing the sound and identity that contributed to his global success.
