Young Thug is set to regain all of his property following a state appeal that sought to overturn the initial ruling. On Wednesday, January 7, a judge mandated that the State of Georgia return all property associated with a civil forfeiture related to the Atlanta rapper’s YSL RICO case.

Fulton County Judge Paige Whitaker directed prosecutors to return the assets seized from Young Thug during the trial, which included several vehicles, jewelry, firearms, and nearly $150,000 in cash.

This development marks a significant moment in a lengthy process for the artist. In October 2024, he pleaded no contest to RICO and gang leader charges after the trial, which lasted over a year following his arrest in May 2022. Judge Whitaker sentenced him to time served along with 15 years of probation, as prosecutors had sought a 45-year sentence comprising 25 years in prison and 20 years on probation.

In September 2025, the State of Georgia appealed Judge Whitaker’s earlier ruling that required the return of Young Thug’s previously seized property. In her recent ruling, the judge stated that the law favored Thugger.

“The Court finds that the plain language of the statute requires that Claimants’ property be returned promptly, free of liens and encumbrances,” she indicated. “The State has not identified any authority that would allow it to retain custody of the property where the forfeiture complaint has been dismissed and now the State’s appeal of that dismissal has been dismissed.”

Judge Whitaker ordered that Young Thug’s property be returned by 5 p.m. on Friday, January 9.

Recently, things have been looking up for Young Thug. In December, he proposed to Mariah the Scientist, following a turbulent period in their relationship due to some contentious jail phone calls. She accepted the proposal.
