Young Thug chose to intervene in order to demonstrate his backing for fellow artist Kevin McCall following the singer’s admission in a recent interview that they were experiencing financial difficulties. The West Coast singer and songwriter disclosed on the “Back On Figg” podcast that he is currently receiving welfare benefits and feels Brown still owes him from their past collaborations.

McCall broke down in tears while recounting his situation. “He asked why he had been issued an EBT card, then asked Chris Brown, a past collaborator, if he could be paid $25,000 for four songs that were owed to him.”

Following this, Young Thug used X to extend an offer of assistance. “He wrote, ‘Kevin McCall, hit me, my friend, I’ll give you the $25,000 you need.'” I would also give it to you, if Brown knew about it. He’s a genuine individual. People [are] often preoccupied, [brother]. Thugger’s post, similar to McCall’s vulnerable moment, elicited mixed reactions from fans online. Some people praised his generosity, but others were sceptical about McCall’s alleged past and the fact that the exchange was made publicly.

McCall and Brown collaborated closely in the early 2010s, with McCall providing vocals and production to numerous projects for his peers in Virginia. He featured on Brown’s Grammy-nominated single “Deuces” in 2010 and co-authored tracks such as “Strip” the following year. McCall later released his own single, “Naked,” in 2012 before splitting from Brown’s CBE Entertainment imprint.

After McCall’s interview, Brown seemed to indirectly respond through his Instagram Stories, posting, “You can’t cross a bridge that has been burned.” What’s even more amusing than a troll? A broken one. Several on social media believed that the statement provided evidence of unresolved issues between the two artists.

Brown recently completed his “Breezy Bowl XX Tour.” He concluded the international tour with a last performance in New Orleans, which was preceded by months of shows across Europe and North America that included Summer Walker, Bryson Tiller and Jhené Aiko.
