YFN Lucci has returned to the music scene following a four-year imprisonment. Cam Newton was asked on his “Funky Friday” podcast series what the public would hear if his phone calls from prison were ever leaked. YFN Lucci chose to avoid rap-industry slang or gangsta dialogue and instead opted for full-on adult humor.

“You might hear some complaining and swearing, along with a little phone sex,” he said, causing everyone in the room to laugh. He then re-enacted one of his fictional conversations: “‘Bae, are we going out tonight?’ ‘I’m going to talk to you guys later, man.’ My girlfriend and I are going to have sex. You all go to sleep, buddy.

The exchange likely arose in part due to the ongoing impact of Young Thug’s leaked phone calls. Recently, several weeks have seen numerous online postings of recorded jail-phone calls and a few interrogation clips that raise questions about loyalty, snitching, business practices and peer criticisms. Thugger has since shared apologies to both individuals via X and also through his UY SCUTI standout track “Miss My Dogs.”

YFN Lucci was granted release in January after he pleaded guilty to one count of violating Georgia’s Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act. He was initially handed a 20-year sentence, consisting of 10 years in prison and 10 years of probation. Following that, he has released his most recent album, ALREADY LEGEND., and reconciled with Young Thug. After their very publicised feud, the two joined forces by collaborating on each other’s projects.

We have experienced a great deal. In the September interview with FlyGuyDC, YFN Lucci stated that everybody lost people, but most importantly, we lost our time. “Coming home, it’s like, ‘Damn, what the heck can a guy do to improve? Are we gonna keep doing this and end up back in prison, or one of our friends dead, or one of us dead? Or are we gonna fix this and make this look good for the community?”
