Nigerian rapper Vector Tha Viper has discussed his personal beliefs and the reasons for not attending church services, stating that his understanding of “church” extends beyond physical buildings.

In a recent episode of the BTC Podcast, he clarified that he does not view church as merely a physical structure. Instead, he believes that spirituality is an individual experience.

“I don’t see church as an edifice or a building. I see church as a person. The Bible indicates that it is your heart that matters to God.

“I also read a page attributed to Thomas, which states, ‘If those who lead you say the kingdom is in the sky, then the birds there are ahead of you. If they say it’s in the waters, then the fishes are ahead of you.

“Rather, the kingdom is within you and outside of you. If you know yourselves, you will be recognized and realize that you are the children of the living Father. If you do not know yourself, you will experience poverty, and that poverty will become part of you,'” he stated.

Adding to his perspective, Vector said, “If the kingdom resides in the church, then the altar holds more value than you. The kingdom consists of a community of believers, but it is fundamentally based on individual connection to salvation. You are saved as an individual by connecting to God.”

The rapper indicated that his views stem from his own interpretation of scripture and personal study. He highlighted that, for him, faith is a deeply personal journey focused on self-awareness and a direct relationship with God, rather than participation in physical worship.

However, Vector made it clear that his stance is not intended to criticize Christianity or organized worship. He expressed respect for those who choose to attend churches or belong to various denominations within Christianity.

His remarks have ignited discussions online, with many engaging in debates about the concept of church, spirituality, and the relationship between personal faith and organized religion in contemporary society.
