On January 1, Soulja Boy used social media to address several rivals, including DDG. During an Instagram Live session, he referenced DDG’s custody situation with Halle Bailey, stating, “When is the last time you seen your kid?” He noted that the two had settled their custody issues the previous October, adding, “You done lost your baby mama. You can’t even see your son.”

He also issued a warning to Rich The Kid for associating with DDG, implying potential consequences. “You stand over there with them boys again, you know what’s going on. You stand with them, you gon’ lay with them,” he said, before shifting focus back to DDG.

Soulja Boy claimed he was the first artist to get “signed off YouTube,” telling DDG, “If it weren’t for me, you would be working at McDonald’s.” He insisted that DDG should show him respect, saying, “I don’t give a f**k if it was 100 years ago. I’ll talk about this s**t forever ‘cause I did that… 16 years old, No. 1 song in the world, written [and] produced by me.”

The context for Soulja Boy’s remarks appears to stem from a recent livestream in which DDG seemed to criticize him, expressing that Soulja Boy should move on from his past success. “That one n**ga that made that dancing song when I was a kid, man, you gotta do something now, bruh. You gotta stop living in the past,” he stated.

Last year, Soulja Boy indicated that he would confront DDG following allegations of abuse that had arisen in Bailey’s restraining order. Although their exchanges have been contentious, they have not escalated to physical confrontations, and it remains to be seen if tensions will rise further in the future.
