DDG States That 30 Days Of Streaming Have Generated More Than His Record Contract: “There Are Too Many Ways To Earn A Profit”

DDG’s music career appears to be a secondary endeavor given his well-known status as a streamer. Halle Bailey’s baby’s father disclosed in a recent interview with DJ Akademiks that he has earned more money from streaming than he has from his record contract.

DDG has released five albums under Epic Records since signing the label in 2018, starting with VALEDICTORIAN and most recently October’s moo. The highest-charting single he has released is “Moonwalking in Calabasas,” from 2020, which reached the Billboard Hot 100 and has been certified double platinum.

His music career is commendable, but it falls short of his reputation as a YouTuber and streamer. He boasts 3.2 million subscribers on the former platform, where his videos frequently achieve viral status.

During a conversation with DJ Akademiks at ComplexCon in Las Vegas on Sunday, October 26, DDG stated that his earnings from streaming are higher than those from his music career.

When asked to compare his recording and streaming income, the Michigan native said he made that for what he signed for at 30 days on Twitch. However, I have a passion for creating music. It’s a distinct sensation when you’re on stage and people are critiquing your work, you’re leaping about and you’re touring the globe.

Despite his passion for creating music and performing, he also mentioned in the interview that streaming is significantly more lucrative.

A 100,000 percent increase. “A 100,000 percent.”

There are just too many ways to earn a profit. All of this content is essentially advertisements. We are receiving money from advertisers such as McDonald’s. You watch a YouTube video, a McDonald’s ad appears, and we’re reimbursed for that.

DDG is amplifying his financial and personal achievements as both a streamer and a rapper.

At ComplexCon, DDG and fellow streamer PlaqueBoyMax also revealed that Kai Cenat was Complex’s Streamer of the Year.
