Rich Brian – Little Ray Of Light

Rich Brian Little Ray Of Light

For almost a year and a half, Rich Brian has shifted his focus away from his solo career to support his label, 88rising Records, in their 1999 WRITE THE FUTURE project. This collaborative effort with RCA Records has united numerous artists for singles and, ultimately, a comprehensive project. Titled hella (˃̣̣̥╭╮˂̣̣̥) ✧ ♡ ‧º·˚, it serves as a diverse collection of genres, reminiscent of a compilation album. The lineup features an impressive array of talent, including Ghostface Killah, Rick Ross, Busta Rhymes, Smino, Amaarae, and BADBADNOTGOOD, among others. During the recording sessions for his contributions to hella, Brian has realized that he possesses a broader range than he previously acknowledged. While he is primarily known for his rapping, the Indonesian artist has been exploring singing and incorporating analog instruments into his work.

These newly acquired skills are prominently showcased in “Little Ray Of Light.” He fully embraces this direction, resulting in a poignant yet beautiful track. In the song, Rich Brian reflects on his waning interest in a woman he is involved with. She once embodied a “Little Ray Of Light,” representing innocence, but that quality has faded, prompting him to make the difficult choice to move on. Alongside this fresh artistic and sonic approach, Rich Brian has chosen this track as the lead single for his upcoming solo album, his first in six years since The Sailor. The new album, titled WHERE IS MY HEAD?, is set to be released on May 23. This marks a significant maturation in Brian’s artistry, and we are eagerly anticipating the potential content of the album.
