Afrobeats singer Oxlade has emphasized the importance of sound checks for artists before performing, in light of a challenging concert he experienced in London.

During a headline performance alongside Bella Shmurda, he encountered issues with sound quality due to the organizers’ failure to conduct a proper sound check.

In a post on X, Oxlade shared his experience and encouraged performers to take charge of their shows, even when organizers do not meet expectations. He highlighted the need for artists to be familiar with their equipment prior to going on stage to ensure a successful performance.

He stated, “Dear Performing artist, I know organisers can do better with the gadgets required to run a show. But please, don’t perform anywhere without running a proper sound check. Na from sound check you go don know your fate… Cause omo I did a certain gig in London.”

He elaborated on the event:

“My first ever headline event, Bella Shmurda headlined this event. Organization was poor…. We couldn’t even do a sound check at the venue before the show… The monitor speakers, i.e., the ones feeding the stage, sounded fair, but the speakers feeding the audience were terrible. That’s gotta be the worst event I performed at. A word is enough for the wise.”

Oxlade’s comments highlight the critical role that preparation, particularly through proper sound checks, plays in preventing technical issues and ensuring an enjoyable experience for the audience.
