Oxlade Encourages Performing Artists To Invest In Vocal Training

Afrobeats singer Oxlade has urged performing artists to invest in vocal training to enhance their skills and ensure they can deliver strong performances independently.

In a tweet on X, he emphasized the importance of developing one’s natural voice, suggesting that while audio engineers and digital tools have their benefits, artists should not rely solely on them. Oxlade highlighted that having solid vocal abilities can significantly impact a performer’s career.

For artists who cannot afford professional coaching, he recommended utilizing online tutorials as a way to improve their vocals.

He pointed out that when performing live, it is the artist’s own voice that takes center stage.

“Dear Performing artist, Get yourself a vocal coach. And if you can’t, watch tutorials on how to better your vocals. It will go a long way. I know engineers are lifesavers. But when the DAWs are not present and the spotlight is on you, you don’t really have a choice but to use your natural God-given voice. Invest in yourself. As long as that thing brings you money,” he wrote.

Oxlade’s advice serves as a reminder to artists that developing their vocal skills is a crucial investment—not only for performances but also for their long-term success in the music industry.
