It appears nearly six years after his death, a posthumous album by Nipsey Hussle is reportedly in the works, marking a departure from the typical cash-driven releases often associated with other deceased artists. On a Wednesday, specifically February 26, Blacc Sam, the brother of the late Crenshaw rapper, has confirmed that new music will be released during the summer months.
Blacc Sam revealed in a Power 106 Los Angeles interview that at the time of his passing, Hussle had a project with Bino Rideaux that was roughly 80 percent finished. The team went in and obtained some unreleased verses from a song that he had collaborated with Bino, then polished the project. This summer’s release sounds fantastic, and it’s expected to be a significant event.
Mike & Keys, Axl Folie and My Guy Mars, who collaborated on tracks such as “Double Up,” “Dedication,” and “Hustle & Motivate” from the 2018 album Victory Lap, are also confirmed for production. Take a look at the conversation that follows.
Nipsey Hussle’s Legacy Has Been Managed Exceptionally Well Up To This Point
Arguably, no artist’s estate has been managed more effectively than Hussle’s. It’s possible that his family’s involvement in everything is the reason, or his fans respect his legacy enough to not leak unreleased music. Regardless of the circumstances, there hasn’t been a flood of posthumous records like this one since the “Double Up” rapper was tragically killed in 2019.
Since his death, the artist has appeared on various tracks, including DJ Khaled’s “Higher,” Mustard’s “Perfect Ten,” Big Sean’s “Deep Reverence,” and more recently, Ye and Ty Dolla Sign’s “DO IT,” but his lasting impact has primarily been maintained through charitable endeavours.
Blacc Sam stated that without Hussle’s input, such as doing the verse, working with the collaborator, or laying out the project’s framework, they wouldn’t be moving forward with the music. However, this level of dedication isn’t consistently displayed in all situations. More than 1,000 songs by Juice WRLD and 34 tracks on Pop Smoke’s Shoot For The Stars Aim For The Moon have been leaked.
