Nipsey Hussle will be honored this weekend with the naming of an intersection in Los Angeles, his hometown.

The intersection at Crenshaw Boulevard and Slauson Avenue will be renamed “Nipsey Hussle Square” to commemorate the late rapper’s impact, entrepreneurial spirit, and strong ties to the community.

The official unveiling of the new street sign will take place during a ceremony on Saturday (February 28), attended by Nipsey’s brother and business partner Blacc Sam, along with L.A. City Council President Marqueece Harris-Dawson, councilmember Heather Hutt, and California State Assemblymember Isaac Bryan.

This intersection holds special significance as Nipsey purchased the nearby plaza shortly before his death in early 2019, which is home to his Neighborhood Nip Foundation.

The Grammy-nominated rapper frequently mentioned this intersection in his work, most notably in the song “Crenshaw and Slauson (True Story)” from 2013.

Additionally, the Hyde Park Metro station across from the intersection was temporarily renamed in Nipsey Hussle’s honor last summer to celebrate his 40th birthday.

Zoe Zeigler, executive officer of Marketing at Metro, stated that the partnership was genuine, noting that Nipsey was a vital part of the community.

In related news, fans can anticipate Nipsey Hussle’s first posthumous album this year.

His Marathon Clothing brand has announced a collaboration with close collaborator Bino Rideaux, titled Prolific, set for release this summer.

This announcement was made alongside the lead single, “Reckless,” produced by Mike & Keys, the production duo responsible for much of Nipsey’s final album, Victory Lap.

This project will be released more than six years after Nipsey was tragically shot outside his Marathon Clothing store in South L.A. at the age of 33.

His assailant, Eric Holder, is currently serving a 60-year prison sentence after being found guilty of first-degree murder.
