Blacc Sam Commemorates Nipsey Hussle With Turkey Drive In South Los Angeles

Nipsey Hussle’s legacy continues to have a significant impact, particularly in the area of philanthropy. His older brother, Samiel “Blacc Sam” Asghedom, distributed turkeys to families in need in their South Los Angeles hometown to honor the late rapper.

According to TMZ, the Neighborhood Nip Foundation and Think Watts Foundation collaborated for a Thanksgiving drive, with Blacc Sam overseeing the event. This took place at the former Marathon Store on Tuesday, November 25.

Among the attendees supporting the turkey drive were Nipsey’s partner, actress Lauren London, and Real 92.3 radio host Big Boy. Friends of Nipsey, such as Marathon Jon, Watts Homie Quan, and J Roc, were also present.

Local families lined up around the block to receive their meals, and a commemorative Nipsey Hussle x Think Watts T-shirt was produced for the event and worn by volunteers distributing food. Over 2,500 free turkeys and other groceries were provided to help create Thanksgiving meals.

The original Marathon Store closed in 2019, but in March, Blacc Sam opened Marathon Burger nearby to honor his brother and continue his community work. Blacc Sam mentioned in a CBS News interview, “I think Marathon brand, created by Hussle, was kind of like to inspire and to just motivate, and it just means to keep going. It’s not a race, it’s a pace, do it on your own.”

Blacc Sam is currently working on an eight-episode docuseries about Nipsey Hussle. Through the Neighborhood Nip Foundation, which recently unveiled a new sign, he has led various philanthropic initiatives since his brother’s passing in 2019.
