Nigerian artist Abdulazeez Fashola, widely known as Naira Marley, has addressed the recent court ruling that exonerated him and several others from any connection to the tragic death of fellow musician Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known as Mohbad. On February 25, 2025, Naira Marley, along with socialite Sam Larry, singer Prime Boy, and others, were acquitted in Mohbad’s case after enduring months of speculation and legal scrutiny.

Following the court’s verdict, Naira Marley took to his official X account to share his emotions, discussing the trauma that came with being publicly accused. In his heartfelt remarks, Naira Marley acknowledged that he and his team, the Marlians, were not infallible and had made errors along the way.

He clarified, however, that these errors were never made with ill intent and were simply part of their path to growth and development. The singer disclosed that he had reconciled with Mohbad before his untimely passing, emphasizing their mutual understanding despite the surrounding noise and misunderstandings. Nevertheless, he conveyed his sadness and frustration that people who were aware of the truth still targeted him following Mohbad’s death.

Naira Marley questioned why individuals chose to reveal the truth only after Mohbad’s passing, instead of speaking out earlier. He asserted that had the truth been shared from the outset, Mohbad would have received the peace he deserved, and his family could have achieved closure.

He also reflected on the difficulties he encountered during the prosecution, including his time in jail and his battles with the justice system. Rather than flee, Naira Marley opted to confront his challenges directly. He expressed gratitude to God, stating that although he had been broken, he remained unshaken.

You never thought I would survive. You never thought I would walk through the fire and face my people. Maybe you hoped I would stay a fugitive. You thought I would run. Instead, I stood before the justice system, spent time in jail, and faced everything head-on while you changed the story again and again,”

he commented.

Naira Marley prayed that when the truth eventually emerges, people would have the strength to accept it. “God sees everything. The truth remains steadfast. Lies will dissipate, and time will disclose all. I have been broken, yet I am not destroyed.

“But God sees all. The truth does not shake. The lies will fade, and time will reveal everything. I have been broken, but I am not destroyed. And when the truth finally speaks, I pray your heart is strong enough to bear it,”

he declared. Naira Marley’s statement has ignited conversations among fans and industry figures.

Many have queried how the controversy over Mohbad’s death escalated into months of allegations. While the court has cleared him of any wrongdoing, the case continues to be a painful chapter in the Nigerian music scene.

As things begin to calm, many are left pondering—will Mohbad finally receive the peace he deserves?
