Mystikal Sentenced To 20 Years In Prison For Rape, According To Reports

Mystikal was sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to rape earlier this year.

According to a report from WBRZ, published on June 12, Mystikal, whose real name is Michael Tyler, received a 20-year sentence for a rape that took place in July 2022 at his home in Prairieville, Louisiana. During the sentencing hearing, the victim requested the judge impose the maximum sentence, recounting the physical violence she endured, which included being punched, choked, pulled by her hair, and forcibly raped in his residence.

After the victim’s impact statement, Mystikal was allowed to address the court, although he was instructed to direct his comments to the judge rather than the victim. He stated, “If I did that to you, I deserve the max sentence,” while facing forward in the courtroom.

Subsequently, the judge sentenced Mystikal to a two-decade prison term for third-degree rape, which is five years short of the maximum penalty.

This sentence follows Mystikal’s guilty plea on March 17, 2026, related to his 2022 rape arrest. Initially charged with first-degree rape, which can result in a life sentence, he pleaded down to third-degree rape, a lesser offense.

Efforts to obtain comments from Mystikal’s attorney have been made by Naijahomeland.

Mystikal has a significant legal history involving similar allegations. He served six years in prison for sexual battery and extortion following a 2003 incident involving his hairstylist. Additionally, he faced rape allegations in 2017, but that case was dismissed due to a lack of sufficient evidence.
