Kendrick Lamar’s remarkable year has earned him yet another notable achievement: a Fortnite emote. The game premiered a dance move that was choreographed to the Pulitzer Prize winning song “HUMBLE.,” on the evening of March 12, but social media has expressed some reservations about it.
The person’s song is considered one of their best, but others couldn’t agree, with one response garnering over 5,000 likes. Someone quipped that there’s no way Kendrick would have said, ‘This is fire.’ Who gave the approval for this dance, and someone else countered, ” Perhaps the dance could have been improved.” We require the ‘Not Like Us’ dance from the Super Bowl. We need the ‘Not Like Us’ dance from the Super Bowl.”
Revisiting an older, but undeniably influential, album track like “HUMBLE.” It appears to be a misjudgment on Fortnite’s behalf, given the numerous viral moments they have provided fans in the past year. At the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show, he performed one of the hardest versions of “Not Like Us.” Serena Williams’ Crip Walk would have been equally deserving of attention, whereas the “squabble up” performance involved the Compton rapper putting in effort to Sounwave’s music production.
It’s clear that video games have their limitations, so perhaps there’s a chance for improvement in the future, particularly with the emergence of something like the “HUMBLE.” Emoting is merely the beginning. Notwithstanding Fortnite’s past music activations have indeed been quite impressive. For Chapter 2 Remix in 2024, Ice Spice, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, and Juice WRLD were featured, along with a posthumous track from the deceased artist.
Lamar is preparing to start his “Grand National Tour” alongside SZA in April. The arena run will visit cities such as Houston, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Detroit, and Toronto, and several other locations. The two artists come from highly successful albums, GNX and LANA, which feature notable collaborations including “30 For 30,” “gloria,” and particularly excitingly, “luther.”
