Kehlani Commends Janet Jackson After Her Performance of “Any Time, Any Place” During The “Folded” Transition

Is it too late for another “Folded” remix? It does not seem so. On Tuesday (Dec. 30), Kehlani (who uses she/they pronouns) responded to Janet Jackson transitioning from her viral hit to “Any Time, Any Place” during a recent performance.

In a video shared on Instagram, Kehlani’s chorus, “I’ll let your body decide if this is good enough for you / Already folding it for you / Already folding up for you,” played just before Jackson, clad in a denim jumpsuit, transitioned into the janet. single, performing, “In the thundering rain / You stare into my eyes.”

Kehlani commented, “THE ONE AND ONLY @janetjackson… #Folded ‘My Taurus’ legend.” Footage from the performance is available below.

One comment on Kehlani’s post mentioned a Grammy nomination, referring to “Folded” being nominated for both Best R&B Song and Best R&B Performance at the 2026 Grammy Awards. Another response noted that “Folded” and “Any Time, Any Place” would make an excellent mashup.

A further comment speculated, “Imagine a Janet version of ‘Folded.’” In October, Kehlani enlisted R&B icons Brandy, Toni Braxton, Mario, and Tank for her Folded Homage Pack. While it is uncertain if she plans to expand that remix EP, a collaboration with Jackson on her upcoming album could be possible.

Although she has not disclosed the title of the LP, Kehlani confirmed it will feature Usher and may also include contributions from Ne-Yo, Jermaine Dupri, and Bryan-Michael Cox. In a conversation with Rolling Stone about her excitement for the full-length project — which is executive produced by Khris Riddick-Tynes — the “Out The Window” singer stated, “Honestly, I just want people to have an experience. I want people to just love singing and dancing again. It is really that simple.”

She added, “It’s such a personal moment for me right now to be proving myself. I feel so personally just motivated to rewrite my story, and I hope that trickles into the experience that people have. I hope people feel empowered.”
