Kanye West’s album “Bully” has made a notable debut on the Billboard 200, securing the number two position despite various controversies surrounding its release.

The album achieved 152,000 equivalent units in its first week, as reported by Billboard. This figure includes 96,000 from streaming, which translates to approximately 98.43 million on-demand official streams, and 56,000 from traditional sales.

BTS claimed the top spot with their 10th album “ARIRANG,” which reported 187,000 equivalent units in its second week after initially debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 with 641,000 units.

Gamma. shared a breakdown on their Instagram Stories, stating that “Bully” generated a total of 200,997 units. However, neither Billboard nor Luminate, the data provider for the Billboard charts, has addressed Gamma.’s claims.

Although the album consists of 18 songs, there may be additional content on the way. Gamma. teased the release of an expanded edition with an Instagram Story stating, “Bully deluxe on the way,” but further details, including a release date and the number of bonus tracks, remain undisclosed.

Additionally, Kanye West’s scheduled performances at London’s Wireless Festival in July are facing significant scrutiny due to his previous antisemitic remarks. Several major sponsors, including Pepsi, PayPal, and Diageo, have withdrawn their support of the festival. Prominent figures such as Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and London Mayor Sadiq Khan have also expressed concern over West’s booking.

West, who recently held two sold-out shows at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles in support of “Bully,” is slated to headline all three nights of the Wireless Festival.

“Bully” marks the end of West’s 21-year streak of number one solo albums, becoming only his second solo LP to fall short of the top position on the Billboard 200 since his debut album “The College Dropout,” which also reached number two.

Gamma., which was founded by former Apple Music executive Larry Jackson and distributed “Bully,” claims that the album actually garnered over 200,000 equivalent units in its first week, potentially enough to surpass BTS and achieve the number one ranking.
