Joshua Baraka – Commando ft. Tiwa Savage

Ugandan singer-songwriter Joshua Baraka collaborates with Tiwa Savage on “Commando,” the second track from his upcoming project “Recess II.” Baraka produced “Commando” himself, a common practice for him as he often writes and produces much of his own work. He also produced five of the seven tracks on his previous project, “Growing Pains.” “Recess II” consists of seven tracks, making this one an early entry.

Tiwa Savage returned to Nigeria and signed with Mavin Records in 2012. In 2018, she became the first woman to win Best African Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards. She released the album “This One Is Personal” in 2025.

Baraka gained recognition with his song “Nana” in 2023, which features a remix including Joeboy and King Promise, among others. He initially explored collaborations across the continent, such as “I Do” with Ghana’s Bryan The Mensah and “Bend It” with Kenya’s Maya Amolo.

He has previously collaborated with Nigerian artists, including Skales on “Body on Me” and DJ Neptune on “Tonight.” This year, he surpassed Diamond Platnumz to become East Africa’s most streamed artist on Spotify based on monthly listeners.
