Falz Discusses His Reasons for Addressing Issues In Nigeria

Nigerian rapper and activist Falz has clarified that his views on governance are not aimed at any specific politician or political party, emphasizing that his focus is on issues affecting Nigerians.

He made this clarification during a recent appearance on Arise 360, where he responded to questions about whether his advocacy and social commentary had impacted his career opportunities and brand partnerships.

Falz mentioned that a company had approached his management for a potential collaboration but later expressed concerns regarding his positions on political and social issues in Nigeria.

The rapper stated that his criticism targets systems and policies rather than individuals, noting that he has never publicly named any politician or political organization.

He emphasized that his message centers on demanding accountability and speaking out against poor governance rather than promoting any political agenda.

“I’m not solely targeting anyone to antagonize. My focus is on the practice and not individuals in particular. I’ve mentioned no names, no political parties,” he said.

Falz added that individuals who feel personally offended by his comments may be connecting themselves to the issues he raises.

He also expressed a willingness to lose certain opportunities rather than compromise his values or cease discussing matters he considers important.

If some organizations are uncomfortable with his stance on social issues, he feels that such partnerships may not align with his personal principles.

Falz has been one of Nigeria’s most vocal entertainers on social issues, often using his music and public platform to address topics such as governance, inequality, and national challenges.
