Unfortunately, “Born Again,” the result of their recent collaboration, was not included in the setlist, but Doja Cat still managed to captivate the audience with a captivating performance of Shirley Bassey’s “Diamonds Are Forever.”

Surrounded by a million Swarovski crystals, she made her entrance onto the stage as she transitioned smoothly into the song’s opening verse, “Diamonds are forever / They are all I need to please me.” It was a breathtaking moment, to put it mildly, with the acknowledgment that she didn’t quite reach the high notes and octaves as Bassey’s original. She began by saying that she had danced with Sarah Paulson the previous night, giving credit to the Academy Awards and Vanity Fair for hosting the exclusive after-party. “I rarely get to sing like that, and what I did was incredibly courageous and intimidating for me.” Despite many people disliking it, Doja Cat stated that many others enjoyed it, and she feels positive about having taken the challenge.

She later admitted, “The song is a timeless classic, and I put a significant amount of effort into it, but my nerves got the better of me, and a woman sang some notes that were off-key.” I’m already looking forward to experiencing something similar in the future.
