CyHi The Prynce Criticizes J. Cole in New Song ‘B.R.A. Lost Control’: Listen

CyHi The Prynce has targeted J. Cole in his new track “B.R.A Lost Control.”

The song, produced by Brian AllDay and Mark Byrd, features CyHi, a long-time associate of Kanye West, challenging Cole’s self-declared title of Best Rapper Alive, which Cole has often claimed for himself.

In addition to the competitive aspect of hip-hop, CyHi appears to still have issues with the Dreamville artist regarding Cole’s 2016 track “False Prophets,” which many interpreted as a diss toward his former G.O.O.D. Music label head, Kanye West.

“I been hearing a lot of n*ggas claim the best rapper alive / Two things can be true, that’s a factual lie,” he begins “B.R.A Lost Control,” referencing Cole’s brief rap conflict with Kendrick Lamar: “You was scared of our good brother in that Grand National, why? / Shoulda knew you and that lil’ Honda was gonna have to collide.”

Later, CyHi raps: “But tell St. John that them raps just ain’t that jaw-dropping / You forgot I still owe you for ‘False Prophets’? / I rap punches that’s hard as Bernard Hopkins / And ain’t no yes men over here, my dawg, stop it.”

“We like the band on the Titanic / We goin’ down with the ship before we go jumpin’ off it / So watch your mouth before you go overtalking / It’s cool ’til you run into one of his underbosses.”

“B.R.A. Lost Control” also showcases CyHi’s lyrical capabilities, filled with clever punchlines and smooth wordplay that the Atlanta native is known for.

“I came back just to crash the summer / I put more fire on wax than Kwanzaa / ‘Cause whatever he brew [Hebrew] can be used by the bartender / Mazel tov! Shots to the glass or the car windshield / That might’ve went over your yarmulke / ‘Cause Hannukah might be the only event my bars miss for [bar mitzvah],” he raps in the first verse.

He also incorporates a line referencing The Pharcyde’s classic song “Passin’ Me By,” rapping: “Gun powder, the gunfire, the harmonics / Of multiple shots going off it’s called violence / Bullets keep passin’ me by, I’m far-sided.”

CyHi is not the only G.O.O.D. Music artist who has responded to J. Cole regarding “False Prophets.”

In a notable interview with Justin Laboy last year, Kanye West made several negative remarks about the North Carolina rapper, even asserting that he does not enjoy Cole’s music.

“I don’t listen to J. Cole … I just heard he had a song called ‘False [Prophets]’ and somebody told me it’s halfway about me,” he stated, while also referring to Cole as “pussy” for apologizing to Kendrick Lamar.
