Cheque Discusses His Acne Struggles And Nearly Leaving Music

Superboy Cheque

In an interview on Yanga FM, the 29-year-old artist discussed the impact that a skin condition had on his confidence and public image during the early stages of his career.

He shared,

“I dealt with acne years ago, and it was quite challenging. My desire to find a solution led me to purchase makeup that almost disfigured my face. It was humiliating, and I nearly gave up on music. I found it difficult to interact with women at that time. After my breakthrough song ‘Zoom’ and getting signed by a record label, I realized I would be attending interviews and appearing in front of cameras. Being a perfectionist, I visited a store to find makeup, but it ended up damaging my face. One morning, I woke up to see that my entire face had been affected,”

he said.

Cheque indicated that this experience made him very self-conscious, impacting both his artistic expression and social interactions. The constant presence of cameras heightened his anxiety, intensifying the challenges he faced.

He described how this situation led him to a period of significant self-reflection, making public appearances and handling the attention from his successful single “Zoom” feel more like a personal battle than a celebration.

His journey serves as a reminder that even those who are gaining fame may encounter private difficulties, and that resilience can be a crucial yet understated factor in achieving success.
