Burna Boy, a prominent figure in Afrobeats, recently gained attention for donating ₦140 million to a non-governmental organization led by social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM), making him the largest donor to the initiative.

The donation was publicly announced by VeryDarkMan on social media, where he shared proof of the transaction that confirmed the funds were transferred to the NGO’s official account.

The funds were sent through Burna Boy’s brand, Spaceship Collective.

With this donation, Burna Boy surpassed music executive Don Jazzy, who had previously contributed ₦100 million to the same cause.

This contribution positions Burna Boy at the forefront of donor listings, highlighting the NGO’s increasing prominence and reach.

In response to the donation, VeryDarkMan noted that the funds would be utilized exclusively for humanitarian efforts.

He mentioned that the money would assist in paying fines for inmates unable to afford their release and cover urgent medical expenses for Nigerians in need.

He emphasized that the organization is dedicated to social intervention projects aimed at providing support for vulnerable populations throughout the country.

The donation has led to various discussions online, with many commending Burna Boy for his commitment to social initiatives beyond his musical career, while others continue to examine the evolving role of public figures in grassroots humanitarian work.
