Blaqbonez Discusses His Decision To Decline A Deal With Mavin Records

Nigerian rapper Emeka Akumefule, known as Blaqbonez, has generated online discussions after sharing that he declined a $1 million offer from Mavin Records.

He revealed this on his official X page while explaining his decision not to join the label led by Don Jazzy, despite the significant financial incentive.

Blaqbonez noted that his personality and perspective on fame did not align with the typical expectations associated with being part of a major music label.

He elaborated that he tends to be reserved regarding social media interaction and fan engagement, preferring to maintain a low online profile rather than regularly posting updates.

He mentioned, “Need to get this off my chest before chanel drops, the reason I didn’t sign to mavin when they were begging me with a million dollars is cos i don’t really like posting, I prefer 1 tweet per year than engaging my fans, I’m too big for that, I’m mysterious.”

This announcement quickly led to varied reactions on social media, with fans discussing whether turning down such a lucrative offer was a courageous choice or a risky one for his career.

Others commended the rapper for remaining authentic to his personality and artistic integrity instead of conforming to a lifestyle that he found uncomfortable.

Throughout his career, Blaqbonez has developed a reputation for his confident demeanor, distinctive humor, and innovative marketing strategies, distinguishing himself as a prominent figure in Nigeria’s rap industry.
