Qing Madi Accuses Former Label Boss Of Forgery And Sabotage As Legal Dispute Escalates

Qing Madi has accused her former record label executive, Joy Tongo, of forgery and financial misconduct, intensifying a dispute that has gained public attention following the release of her new project, Barely Legal.

The controversy began when several songs from her recent album reportedly disappeared from streaming platforms amid claims of a contractual disagreement.

Qing Madi alleged that these actions were intended to disrupt her career’s progress.

In a recent TikTok livestream, the singer expressed her frustration regarding the ongoing issue, stating that the conflict arises from a legal battle she claims to have successfully defended against.

According to Qing Madi, the dispute encompasses more than just music ownership and contracts, as she accused her former label boss of unethical practices during their collaboration.

“She [Joy Tongo] stole from me, did a bunch of weird things like forging my signature. She sued me for $2M & she lost the case. She took down ‘Pepper Me’, and I worked with my team to prove it’s an illegal takedown. They went through the corners again to take down the project,” the singer said.

The American Love hitmaker also sought assistance from her supporters to highlight what she considers an unfair situation, admitting that the extended dispute has affected her.

In response, Joy Tongo has firmly denied the allegations.

Through a post on Instagram, the JTon Music CEO dismissed Qing Madi’s claims as false and refuted the charges of forging the singer’s signature or misappropriating funds.

Tongo also challenged Qing Madi’s assertion that the legal case had been resolved in her favor, stating that the matter is still active and has not yet gone to trial.

“Also, the injunction is ruling is why we can issue a legal takedown now, what case have you won? Because last time I checked, the case still hasn’t gone to trial,” Tongo stated in her Instagram post.

The dispute represents the latest development in the ongoing legal and professional fallout between the singer and her former label. With both parties holding opposing views, the situation is likely to remain under public scrutiny as the legal proceedings continue.

For now, fans are observing closely as one of Nigeria’s emerging music stars and her former management continue to exchange claims regarding contracts, ownership rights, and her music catalog’s future.
