Young Thug has issued a response to Rich Homie Quan’s camp, claiming that Quan was set to testify against him in the YSL RICO trial before he passed away.

On Thursday (May 7), Young Thug shared multiple messages on his Instagram Story addressing Rich Homie Quan’s brother, who dismissed Thug’s assertion that he had always supported RHQ. In posts that have since been deleted, Thug stated that Quan was expected to testify in his gang and racketeering trial scheduled for 2024, just one week prior to the late rapper’s death.

“Tell them he was about to take the stand on me the week he died since it’s a lie,” Thug mentioned in a message directed at Quan’s brother, Rich Homie Dre. “I still love him and wish he was here though. I know I wouldn’t have walked past him sleeping on the floor.”

Dre responded on his IG Story, asserting, “bet a million we ain’t cooperate[.] I got receipts.”

After seeing Dre’s post, Thug reiterated his affection for Quan, despite the underlying tension between them. “I don’t need a receipt, it’s in black and white,” he remarked. “R.I.P. Quan, condolences to Mom and Dad, know I love him like my own, and I have always been respectful, and I was there for him when he went through what he went through.”

He continued, “All this because I made a post reminiscing about a person I spent a lot of my career with as a friend and brother. We all make mistakes, but I’m not the reason he died; y’all are.”

Thug also expressed concern regarding Quan’s substance use, stating, “I always told him to stop drinking and stop popping pills. Y’all made sure he had them when he woke up.”

He concluded his remarks by apologizing, stating, “Sorry pops for this goofy stuff, but these individuals are coming at me because I posted your son in great regards.”

The exchange between Young Thug and Quan’s camp originated from a tribute post Thug made on May 5, in which he shared a nostalgic video of them in the studio performing their song “Tell Em.”

“Never switched on you brother, always rode with you; what happened?” Thug wrote in the caption.

Although the tribute appeared benign, it drew a response from Quan’s camp, who suggested that Thug was actually the one who had betrayed Quan.

Rich Homie Quan passed away on September 5, 2024, due to an accidental drug overdose. In an October 2025 interview with Adin Ross, Young Thug expressed regret about not resolving his issues with Quan before his death.
