Moneybagg Yo has recently garnered attention online for his transformed appearance. Over the weekend, the rapper responded to comments from fans regarding this change.

In a TikTok where he mentioned he was “[on the way] to get some money,” one user remarked, “This BagYoMoney. [This] ain’t him.” He replied, “Who else it is then? Mane, y’all [bulls**ting]. Just say I look cleaner, healthier. Y’all act like y’all wanted me to stay on drugs.”

To another comment claiming, “This ain’t Moneybagg,” he offered a similar response. “Y’all [bulls**ting] dragging that lame, cap-a** narrative out,” the Memphis artist stated. “Damn, just get healthy. Get like me. I’m doing better than I ever was.”

Some comments humorously likened him to William Dent (played by Reggie Hayes) from “Girlfriends,” while others joked about him being “cloned.” His recent lifestyle changes, including quitting lean and committing to fitness, have indeed made a significant impact on his appearance.

Reactions to weight loss among hip-hop artists can vary. While Moneybagg Yo may be one of the few male rappers facing criticism for his weight loss, other artists like Gunna received positive feedback after losing “about 30 to 40 pounds” following his release from jail. In contrast, female artists often face much harsher scrutiny regarding their bodies. Recently, Lizzo addressed a “fat joke” made about her online.

On the musical front, Moneybagg Yo released “Close The Door” in March and the G Herbo collaboration “Feet On Land” in October. In a conversation with Apple Music’s Ebro Darden, G Herbo discussed their collaborative efforts, especially given that he is in a relationship with the mother of Moneybagg Yo’s first child. “We ain’t never had no type of misunderstanding at all,” he said about their “blended family.” He added that when they began working on the song, the energy was immediately positive, stating, “As soon as he played the beat, though, I’m like, ‘Oh, yeah, this the one.’”
