As more information emerges regarding the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, authorities have focused on the alleged primary suspect. A grand jury is expected to decide whether to indict singer d4vd on murder charges.

In September, a decomposed body was discovered inside a Tesla that was registered to the Houston-based singer but had been abandoned. The body was later identified as that of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who, according to her mother, had “disappeared” from their Lake Elsinore, California home in April 2024. During this period, d4vd was reportedly cooperating with the authorities.

The grand jury was initially thought to be convened to evaluate evidence in the case. Various reports have speculated on the connection between the 20-year-old singer, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, and the teenager. However, TMZ is now reporting that the grand jury will actually be deciding whether the singer will face charges. According to sources cited by the outlet, it is likely that the “What Are You Waiting For” singer will be indicted for murder.

D4vd was on tour when the news of Rivas Hernandez’s body being found in the vehicle was reported. It was over a week after this discovery that he canceled the remainder of his domestic and international tour dates. In early December, Robert Morgenroth, general manager of d4vd’s record label, Mogul Vision, and president of his tour company, Zara Brothers Travel, reportedly testified before the grand jury for several days. Allegedly, he prioritized keeping d4vd on tour rather than contacting law enforcement when he realized the Tesla was missing.

Given the situation—a young girl’s life cut short and the involvement of a rising artist—this case is expected to be closely monitored as it progresses in the court system and in public discourse.
