Nigerian musician 2Baba has expressed confidence in the future of Afrobeats, addressing concerns about its potential decline in global popularity.

In an interview with media personality Yaw on Wazobia FM, the singer, whose real name is Innocent Idibia, attributed the genre’s continued success to the emergence of new talent. He noted that these young musicians are not only preserving Afrobeats but also elevating it both in Nigeria and worldwide.

“Afrobeats can never die. If you listen to some of the young artists now, you’ll see the genre is in very capable hands,”

2Baba stated, pointing to their creativity, energy, and unique styles as key elements contributing to the genre’s ongoing appeal.

He praised up-and-coming artist Fola for her rendition of his classic song If Love Is A Crime, describing it as “impressive and refreshing.”

“I really loved it—soft, smooth vocals. The present crop of artists has special flows. I love their styles,”

he added, underlining his appreciation for the new talent influencing the genre’s future.
