Sabrina Carpenter made headlines during her “Short n’ Sweet Tour” performances at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. On November 20, she playfully handed SZA a pair of pink fuzzy handcuffs, joking that SZA was “too hot.”

Carpenter acknowledged SZA’s presence in the audience, saying, “I’ve got some competition,” to which SZA responded, indicating that wasn’t the case. Carpenter then asked SZA where she was from, generating a positive reaction from the crowd when SZA mentioned her home state of New Jersey.

“They don’t always scream for other cities, so I love that,” Carpenter remarked. She added, “SZA, you know what they say, it’s cuffing season. You’re getting really flustered.” Carpenter then dedicated her live performance of “Juno” to SZA.

Earlier in the tour, on November 17, Carpenter “arrested” sisters Elle and Dakota Fanning. Throughout the tour, she has also taken several other notable women into custody, including Gigi Hadid, Millie Bobby Brown, Nicole Kidman, Ayo Edebiri, and Clairo.

Carpenter released her latest album, Man’s Best Friend, in August, featuring the chart-topping singles “Manchild” and “Don’t Worry I’ll Make You Worry,” the latter of which received praise from Nicki Minaj.

SZA is concluding a busy year, having added four new songs to the SOS Deluxe: LANA edition, and appearing as a guest during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl LIX halftime show. The two artists also toured together on the “Grand National Tour,” completing its European leg in August.

Looking ahead to next year, SZA is anticipated to have a significant presence at the 2026 Grammy Awards, where her collaboration with Lamar, “luther,” is nominated for Record of the Year, Best Melodic Rap Performance, and Song of the Year. Her songs “Crybaby” and “30 For 30” are also nominated in other categories.
