Victoria Monét And Quavo Celebrate Shared Album Release With “Hotel Lobby” Trend

If you have come across videos featuring the Obamas, Peter Parker, or Walter White from “Breaking Bad,” along with various celebrities, characters, and animals, rapping to Takeoff and Quavo’s “HOTEL LOBBY (Unc & Phew),” you are observing a trend that has recently emerged online. In recent weeks, AI-generated videos have become prevalent, showcasing individuals’ faces swapped onto the late Migos rapper and his uncle during their “A COLORS SHOW” performance of their song from the album Only Built For Infinity Links. The popularity of this trend has prompted Quavo to engage with it directly.

On October 1, Victoria Monét collaborated with Quavo for their own version of this viral trend, opting for a genuine approach rather than relying on artificial intelligence. The Grammy-winning singer performed the lyrics, while Quavo entertained by revisiting some of his dance moves from the original 2022 video.

Monét emphasized in her caption, “No AI.” They came together to promote their albums set to release at midnight. Monét’s album, Frequency of Love, includes collaborations with artists like Leon Thomas, SZA, Lucky Daye, and Bryson Tiller. Quavo’s album, QRÖMELIFE, features Offset and includes contributions from A$AP Rocky, Future, and Yung Miami, among others.

Monét’s post stated, “Both of us have real albums coming out tonight! Link in both of our bios to listen and support human legacy.” The following section provides insights into the AI “Hotel Lobby” trend that has captured the internet’s attention.

To provide some background, Quavo and Takeoff performed for COLORS in 2022 under the name Unc & Phew. Released in celebration of Black Music Month, their performance featured them rapping against an orange backdrop with a microphone suspended above. The video has since gained significant traction, accumulating over 123 million views on YouTube and experiencing renewed virality recently.

One user on social media utilized AI to swap the duo’s faces with cats, leading to more than 13,000 retweets on X. This sparked a broader trend where people began substituting Quavo and Takeoff’s visuals with various characters and figures, including Barack and Michelle Obama, Beyoncé and Blue Ivy Carter, and Woody and Buzz Lightyear, among others. Some celebrities also participated in this trend, including Kevin Hart and Eniko, as well as Niecy Nash and Jessica Betts.
