Ty Dolla $ign – Wheels Fall Off ft. Kanye West

It has been four years since Ty Dolla $ign, the California-based singer, producer, songwriter, and rapper, released a solo album. Specifically, his last studio LP, titled Featuring Ty Dolla $ign, was made available to fans on October 23, 2020. This album featured an impressive lineup of collaborations, including contributions from Anderson .Paak, Kid Cudi, Nicki Minaj, FKA twigs, Future, and Kanye West, among others. The involvement of Kanye West has largely contributed to Ty’s limited updates to his own discography, as both artists have been focused on producing two projects for the VULTURES era. However, it appears that Ty Dolla $ign now has some additional time to dedicate to his own work. During the GRAMMYs, he revealed that he is currently working on an album titled TYCOON, which he claims will be released “very, very soon,” according to Billboard.

Aside from this announcement, there is little additional information available, except for the lead single “Wheels Fall Off.” This track exemplifies the typical style of Ty Dolla $ign, as he blends rapping and singing to express his suitability for a romantic partner over an upbeat West Coast rhythm. The instrumental for the song is partially crafted by Kanye West, who also makes an appearance on the track. The lyrics suggest that Kanye may have contributed to the song following his controversial incident with Bianca Censori at the GRAMMYs. Furthermore, it could also reflect his recent provocative and impulsive remarks on Twitter, which continue to attract attention. An extended version of the single is available (link below), which appears to be the one intended for inclusion in TYCOON. In this version, Kanye West not only delivers a poorly sung verse but also opens with an extensive monologue that pays tribute to Diddy, stating, “P. Diddy and the fam’, who you know do it better?”
