Tekno Discusses Serious Health Challenges Impacting His Career

Afrobeats artist Tekno has discussed a challenging time in his career, during which a significant throat condition kept him off stage for several years and led to considerable financial losses.

In a recent interview on Cool FM, the singer, songwriter, and producer reflected on the health issue that affected him between 2017 and 2019, hindering his ability to sing or perform as his career was gaining momentum.

Tekno mentioned that the condition forced him to cancel many performances and provide refunds to promoters, ultimately requiring surgery in the United States after an extensive search for the appropriate medical specialist.

“I was refunding so much money. I think I refunded over a million dollars in shows,” he stated, outlining the financial repercussions of his illness and the number of engagements he could not fulfill.

The award-winning musician also shared that finding suitable treatment was not an easy process. He traveled to various locations in search of a qualified doctor before finally undergoing surgery in New York, noting that he could not obtain the specialized care he required in Nigeria at that time.
