Samklef Responds To Seun Kuti Regarding Comments About Wizkid FC, Referring To Him As “Bald Head Vulture”

Nigerian music producer Samklef has commented on the controversy surrounding Seun Kuti and his criticism of Wizkid FC, intensifying an ongoing discussion within the Afrobeats community.

The situation began when Seun Kuti, son of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, publicly criticized Wizkid’s fans for consistently referencing his father’s name in online music discussions.

In an Instagram video, Seun accused fans of being disrespectful and ignorant, arguing that referring to modern artists as the “new Fela” undermines his father’s legacy.

Seun expressed:
“Keep Fela’s name out of your (Wizkid FC) mouths. Why must you find a way to bring Fela always into your discussions?”

He added:
“You try to claim that this your artiste is the new Fela. When you saw that you couldn’t fill those shoes, you turned around. If your lack of respect came from a place of defiance, I would respect it. But your lack of respect comes from a place of ignorance. Complete ignorance.”

Seun also pointed out the distinction between Fela’s Afrobeat and today’s Afrobeats, noting that contemporary sounds are influenced more by Juju and Fuji and questioning the need to associate current music with the Afrobeat label.

His remarks prompted reactions from members of Wizkid FC and supporters, including producer Samklef. On social media, Samklef referred to Seun as a “hater” and “bald head vulture,” implying that he does not possess the wisdom to uphold his father’s legacy appropriately.

Samklef tweeted:
“Bald head vulture! You don’t see Bob Marley’s children carry their dad’s legacy with respect? But look at Fela’s son. He should be grateful that they still acknowledge his father. He just opens his shirt and yells! He has wisdom but zero understanding.”

He further accused Seun of envy, stating:

“He hated Burna Boy, and then Burna Boy played him! The fool doesn’t realize that Burna Boy roasted him. If he wears his dad’s chain, let him take a picture and post it. Seun Kuti the envious individual.”

The disagreement highlights the significant divisions driven by fan loyalty, artistic pride, and personal feelings within Nigeria’s music industry.

While Seun Kuti argues that his comments aim to protect Fela’s legacy from misrepresentation, Samklef’s response illustrates the frustration among Wizkid supporters, many of whom perceive the statements as both dismissive and provocative.

As the online debate continues, it mirrors a broader tension in Nigerian music, where respect for legends, fan culture, and contemporary artistry frequently clash publicly.
