Russ – April 7

Russ April 7

Russ has recently announced that his sixth album, W!LD, is scheduled for release sometime in either the spring or the summer, but he failed to provide a specific date. On March 28, he released the album’s lead single, “Movin.” This week, the artist has returned with the album’s second single, called “April 7.” The first singles from the upcoming album suggest that it has some potential. Russ is continuing his momentum after a string of surprisingly strong singles throughout 2024. He is revisiting familiar ground on “April 7”, a date he has been associated with before, and it seems to be serving him well.

On the 7th of April, Russ discusses a woman he is in love with. The rapper starts by describing her as a nice and sweet Midwest girl, who stands at just over five-foot-three. It’s evident that he’s extremely pleased with the person the song is about. He mentions spoiling her, taking her to Colorado and the Caribbean, and making her react strongly, much like Kai Cenat. Both of them appear to have recovered from the relationship in question. A part of Russ that was usually hidden is now open and unreserved with her. The beat, co-produced by Russ and several other individuals, bears a strong resemblance to the more refined production style that began to take shape online during the early 2010s. The song features Russ’s bars, and they work very effectively. Overall, “April 7” is worth a listen, and it will be intriguing to observe what the New Jersey rapper will bring to his subsequent album.
