Roy Woods & Chow Lee – One Night Stand

Roy Woods Chow Lee One Night Stand

Roy Woods recently marked the tenth anniversary of his groundbreaking release, EXIS. This EP garnered attention from fans, establishing him as one of the most thrilling new talents in the R&B scene, and his collaborations and tours with Drake suggested that Woods was poised for significant success.

A decade later, the trajectory has not unfolded as anticipated. Nevertheless, it would be inaccurate to claim that Woods has not achieved success. He continues to be a favorite among fans, and his music remains impressive, as evidenced by his earlier release, Dark Nights, this year.

This quality persists in his latest single, a collaboration with New York City staple Chow Lee, titled “One Night Stand.” This marks their second collaboration, following their previous track, “tequila vacay,” released in October 2024. This partnership is proving to be fruitful, with two tracks to their credit.

Chow Lee is a melodic rapper, akin to Cash Cobain, and he delivers a solid performance in the latter part of the track. However, Woods’ vocal delivery tends to overshadow, as he excels on a beat reminiscent of those that Drake would have mastered in 2016 or 2017.

Both artists effectively embody the role of “smooth talker,” with Woods adopting a more straightforward approach in his lyrics compared to Lee. Nonetheless, Lee concludes his verse with the lines, “I love to play games, I guess I’m scared of bein’ serious / Nutted in her last time we f****d, I pray she get her period.”

In summary, “One Night Stand” is a high-quality track that merits your attention. You can listen to it below.
