Rema Discusses His Unexpected Pre-Show Rituals

Nigerian Afrobeats artist Rema has shared insights into his pre-show rituals.

In an interview with Dazed during Milan Fashion Week, where he participated in a runway show for Diesel, he described how he prepares for his performances by mixing a little alcohol, smoking cigarettes, praying, and conducting sound checks.

“A little Tequila, a little cigarette, pray, tap in with the team and make sure everything is on cue,” he stated, noting that performing is more challenging than modeling, highlighting the importance of breath control and engaging the audience.

Regarding his current musical influences, he mentioned that he has been exploring Sudanese live music while also acknowledging that smoking is his “biggest vice.” These details provide fans with a closer look at the personal habits of a prominent figure in the Afrobeats scene.
