Portable Raises Discussion Regarding Mavin Records Artists And Critiques Don Jazzy

Portable

Singer Portable has directed criticism at music executive Don Jazzy, publicly questioning why artists who depart Mavin Records seemingly struggle to maintain their success in the industry.

In a viral video, Portable urged Don Jazzy to consider collaborating with him, referencing notable artists linked to the label.

“Don Jazzy, why is it that everyone who leaves your label doesn’t reign again? Come and package me and let’s partner,” he stated.

He further claimed that some prominent Mavin artists, including Rema and Tiwa Savage, have seen a decline in their careers.

“Even Rema is no more reigning. Only Tiwa Savage is reigning,” he remarked.

This statement follows recent controversy surrounding Crayon, who joined Mavin Records in 2019. Crayon had shared a series of now-deleted posts accusing Don Jazzy of being linked to his mother’s death and alleging unpaid royalties.

He also claimed that substantial amounts of money had been collected without him receiving his portion, suggesting that delayed payments had been used against him and vowing to expose the label.

Portable’s comments, alongside Crayon’s accusations, have renewed discussions online about artist management, royalty payments, and the long-term effects of being associated with or leaving one of Nigeria’s leading record labels.
