PlaqueBoyMax Launches Competition For Emerging Artists

PlaqueBoyMax is set to transform his music-discovery streams into a three-day competition. The streamer and producer announced the Rising Star event in Los Angeles, which will take place from Friday, November 6, to Sunday, November 8, featuring six emerging artists vying for a $25,000 prize. The contest will finish with a live performance in front of an audience.

In a post on X that has since been deleted, Max affirmed the competition dates and prize amount, noting that one of the potential contestants had withdrawn unexpectedly. He encouraged his followers to suggest a replacement, inviting discussion among artists and supporters looking to participate. Fans can also view a short trailer showcasing a developing producer navigating family and work life before receiving an opportunity from Max.

The finale on Sunday will be held at The Belasco in downtown Los Angeles. Tickets for the all-ages event can be purchased through Ticketmaster.

This contest builds on a format Max has previously explored online. Through his “In The Booth” series, he invites recording artists and creators to produce music while viewers observe the process. In October 2025, he announced his collaboration with Rakai and BunnaB; the resulting track, “Turn Up,” emerged from one of those sessions and was accompanied by a music video.

PlaqueBoyMax, whose real name is Maxwell Dent, began creating YouTube videos as a teenager in New Jersey before gaining recognition in Hip Hop. In an interview with Boardroom, he mentioned learning video editing in middle school before pursuing livestreaming as a profession. His popularity surged after joining FaZe Clan in 2024. He also created “Song Wars,” a livestream competition where artists showcase their music in tournaments judged by fellow performers. This series introduced his audience to up-and-coming rappers, including Lazer Dim 700 and Nino Paid.

In 2025, Max gained musical prominence with his LONDON and ATLANTA EPs, collaborating with artists like Skepta, Quavo, and Flo Milli. He followed these projects with his debut mixtape, Five Forever, which highlighted his rapping alongside various loose singles and collaborations. His musical achievements also include a contribution to Fred again.. and Skepta’s “Victory Lap,” which received a nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Recording at the 2026 Grammy Awards.
