Phyno – Ndu Ka Aku ft. Seyi Vibez

Phyno and Seyi Vibez begin with “Ndu Ka Aku,” which translates from Igbo to life is greater than wealth. This track is the first of fifteen on the album, combining Phyno’s Igbo lyrics with Seyi Vibez’s street-pop style. The production, handled by Benjamz, features a choral-style backdrop that supports the verses.

The song’s message is straightforward. Both artists emphasize that life is valuable, even while pursuing financial success. Seyi Vibez reflects on music as a source of healing and shares his experiences of praying for success. Phyno appeals to God on behalf of those who are struggling. The chorus features the phrase “brother do the maths,” highlighting the idea that no amount of wealth surpasses the value of life itself.

The record’s complexity is enhanced by the bilingual shifts. Phyno alternates between Igbo and English, while Seyi Vibez incorporates Yoruba rhythms, and these transitions feel natural. Having previously collaborated on Seyi Vibez’s “Highlife Interlude” in 2023, their chemistry appears to be a continuation of their earlier work.

The album’s release included some drama, as “Uzo Ano,” a collaboration with Flavour listed as track six in initial pre-orders, was removed from the final tracklist. This left “Ndu Ka Aku” to take the opening position, adding significance to the record, which manages to support this role.

Listening to “Ndu Ka Aku” may reveal if this opening track appropriately sets the tone for the album.
