On Saturday, October 18, a large number of NBA YoungBoy fans congregated outside Mercedes-Benz Stadium following the sudden cancellation of the rapper’s second scheduled Atlanta concert. A spontaneous gathering rapidly evolved into an outdoor party, which included a DJ, fireworks, and big crowds singing along to his most popular songs as if he were giving a live performance.

The cancelled show was part of YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s “Make America Slime Again Tour,” which had already experienced setbacks in other cities. His initial performance in Atlanta took place on October 15 at State Farm Arena, where he performed songs such as “I Hate YoungBoy,” a track released in 2022 that criticizes several notable artists including Lil Durk, Lil Baby and Gucci Mane, who all have significant connections to Atlanta’s hip-hop community.

Venue officials cancelled the second Atlanta date after a fight broke out involving members of YoungBoy’s team at the VIP entrance, according to HotNewHipHop. The artist and his team have not released an official statement about the incident. The cancellation is a result of ongoing issues on the tour, which previously led to shows being cancelled in Chicago and other cities due to safety concerns.

Confusion was further compounded when YoungBoy received an award at his initial Atlanta show that some fans initially thought was a “key to the city.” The city’s Office of Film, Entertainment and Nightlife subsequently clarified that no such honor had been awarded. Officials noted that despite recognition from Fulton County and the state of Georgia, the city itself has not presented a key to the city in numerous years and does not bestow this honour at present.

The tour resumed in New Orleans, where YoungBoy is scheduled to give two consecutive performances at the Smoothie King Center on October 19 and 20. After his performance on Sunday, he was seen strolling along Bourbon and Canal Streets, where enthusiastic supporters mobbed him before police officers escorted the rapper to safety. Over 400 officers had been deployed locally for security purposes, following issues that had occurred during previous tours.
