Megan Thee Stallion is a Grammy-winning rapper, entrepreneur, and, as The Trevor Project describes her, a “mental health champion in every sense of the word.” She was honoured as the 2025 Mental Health Champion of the Year on Friday, October 10, by the organisation for her continued activism.

Megan expressed her honour at receiving this year’s Mental Health Champion award from The Trevor Project in a press statement. “My objective has consistently been to utilise my platform in order to assist in dispelling stigmas surrounding mental health, and make available resources for individuals looking for secure environments in which to engage in authentic and sincere discussions.”

“It’s crucial to lead with compassion and understanding because mental health affects us all.” I’m thankful for organisations such as The Trevor Project, which are dedicated to raising awareness and assisting our LGBTQ+ youth in significant ways.

In 2022, the “HISS” rapper launched “Bad B**ches Have Bad Days Too,” a wellness hub providing mental health resources, crisis helplines, and access to therapy for young individuals. The following year, she encouraged everyone to “check in on our friends and family” through the Seize the Awkward campaign. “It’s all right to not be feeling alright,” she said in the video. If you notice a friend struggling, consider contacting them.

In 2024, Megan marked World Mental Health Day by partnering with the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) on the Never a Bother campaign, which sought to prevent youth suicide. “She made it clear that she definitely wants to speak with the Hotties to reassure them that it’s perfectly alright to request assistance.”

Megan is in excellent company among past Mental Health Champion of the Year Award winners. The 2024 recipient was her “Sweetest Pie” collaborator, Dua Lipa, who was preceded by recipients such as Lil Nas X and Janelle Monáe.

“As a queer Black individual, I wished I had someone like Megan to look up to during my childhood.” The Trevor Project CEO Jaymes Black stated that her courage, her authenticity, and her relentless dedication to mental health advocacy will be remembered for generations to come.

Aside from April’s “Whenever,” we haven’t heard much new music from the Houston native in 2025. She has recently hinted at her comeback with a previously unheard track that incorporates elements from Total’s “Kissin’ You,” which could be happening very soon.
