Mawhoo Was Attacked While On Her Way To A Show In Sun City

Ntobeko Ngema, known as Mawhoo, has announced that she was unable to perform at the RustyRocks Metro FM Tap Into 2026 New Year’s Eve event at Sun City Resort due to an alleged attack on her team while traveling to the venue.

On her Instagram Stories, the award-winning vocalist shared a video showcasing the damage to her touring van. In the video, Mawhoo claimed that her team was assaulted by a group she referred to as “amabhunu/boer” while on their way to their final gig of the year.

“Got attacked by amabhunu/boer izolo on our way to our last gig. These people attacked our team, bashaya no driver wami,” she stated.

In response to this incident, Mawhoo’s team issued an official media statement confirming that it had directly impacted her scheduled performance at Sun City.

“We regret to confirm that Ntobeko Ngema p.k.a. Mawhoo was unable to perform at the RustyRocks Metro FM Tap Into 2026 New Year’s Eve event at the Sun City Resort due to circumstances beyond her control,” the statement indicated.

The statement explained that the singer and her team were traveling from a previous event when they encountered what was described as a severe racial incident, resulting in significant damage to their touring bus and delays.

“Despite all reasonable efforts by Mawhoo Entertainment and the RustyRocks team, it was not possible for the artist to arrive in time for her scheduled performance,” the statement added.

The team expressed apologies to fans, patrons, and stakeholders who were anticipating Mawhoo’s performance, acknowledging the disappointment caused by her absence from the New Year’s Eve celebration.

“We sincerely apologise to patrons and stakeholders for the disappointment caused,” the statement continued.

Additionally, Mawhoo’s team confirmed that they have identified the alleged perpetrators and will pursue legal action.

“We have ascertained the perpetrators’ details and we will be seeking further legal recourse.”
