Lil Durk appears to be maintaining a positive attitude despite spending his 33rd birthday in pretrial proceedings for the murder-for-hire case, based on his recent social media update. On Sunday, October 19, the Chicago-based rapper shared a special message with fans to commemorate another year in the Earth’s orbit.

“He expressed gratitude for still having a voice despite not having access to his complete lyrics,” he wrote on Instagram, alongside an unreleased song clip. He continued, “Grateful to everyone who stood on love when things got tough.” I’m currently focusing on personal growth, striving for inner peace, and hoping that the city as a whole shares this sentiment.

Artists such as G Herbo, Yella Beezy, Ralo, and Pooh Shiesty – who had also recently returned home from prison – expressed birthday wishes and advocated for the “All My Life” artist’s release in the comments. View the post that follows.

Lil Durk’s trial has been rescheduled to commence on January 20, 2026, following its postponement from October 14. Prosecutors and lawyers for several of his co-defendants claimed that the case was “such an unusual and intricate case” that they needed extra time to prepare.

The rapper, whose real name is Durk Devontay Banks, did not agree with the delay. The filing noted that defendant Banks opted not to participate in the stipulation to continue the trial in this case. According to Billboard, the decision did not infringe on his right to a speedy trial because there are numerous defendants involved. Prosecutors also argued that a three-month extension is a reasonable period of delay.

A Chicago native was accused of conspiracy, using interstate facilities to commit murder-for-hire, which led to death, and possessing and using firearms, including a machine gun, in connection with a plot to kill Quando Rondo in the previous year. A judge has turned down all of Lil Durk’s bail applications, yet he appears to be in good humour.

I’m feeling a lot more positive now. He stated in a jailhouse recording, as reported by HotNewHipHop, that everyone gets a second chance. Lil Durk also briefly discussed his intentions for when he is released from prison.
