Fans who attended Top Dawg Entertainment’s 12th Annual Christmas Concert and Toy Drive on December 18 in Los Angeles received an early holiday experience. Kendrick Lamar and SZA made a surprise appearance for a performance at the event.

Videos of the pair performing several songs from their discography have surfaced online, including “30 For 30,” from SZA’s SOS Deluxe: LANA album, and “squabble up” from Kendrick’s GNX album. They also performed the record-breaking “luther,” which contributed to Kendrick Lamar being recognized as Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip Hop Artist of the Year for 2025.

TDE’s annual event features a blend of entertainment from its artists along with community-focused philanthropic activities such as gift and food distributions. In addition to Lamar and SZA, the lineup reportedly included Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre, Ab-Soul, Doechii, Isaiah Rashad, Jay Rock, Ray Vaughn, Schoolboy Q, and SiR, among others. Admission to this year’s event required attendees to bring an “unwrapped toy.” The two-day event began with the concert and toy drive, followed by family activities and gift distributions in the Nickerson Gardens housing projects on December 19.

Although Kendrick Lamar departed from TDE Records in 2022 with his final album, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, he now releases music through his own pgLang venture, in partnership with former TDE co-president Dave Free and Interscope Records. Nonetheless, he maintains a close relationship with the TDE brand and its artists.

Lamar took the stage after finishing his “Grand National Tour” in Australia. Although SZA did not participate in that segment of the tour, fellow TDE artists ScHoolboy Q and Doechii accompanied him during that time.

Kendrick Lamar’s return to perform for his local South Los Angeles community, especially in a free event, reflects commendable dedication.
