Kehlani is a nominee for three upcoming Grammy Awards, yet the artist claims that being recognized in this way has not altered their perspective on their creative work. On Tuesday, January 28, the creator of “Nights Like This” stated during a CBS interview that awards should not alter an artist’s perspective on their work, but rather serve as validation of their growth.
I’d like to express this in the most respectful and grateful manner, which is that it hasn’t altered anything. The artist from Oakland, California, stated that these things should not influence your perception of your art. It would be beneficial for them to verify that your narrative skills are improving.
Kehlani has received a total of five nominations so far, with two of those stemming from her fourth studio album, CRASH. This 13-track album is vying for the Best Progressive R&B Album award against Childish Gambino’s Bando Stone and The New World, Avery*Sunshine’s So Glad to Know You, NxWorries’ Why Lawd?, and Durand Bernarr’s En Route.
The lead single from Kehlani’s previously mentioned album, “After Hours,” is nominated for Best R&B Song. Other records competing in this category are SZA’s “Saturn,” Tems’ “Burning,” Coco Jones’ “Here We Go (Uh Oh)” and Muni Long’s “Ruined Me.” The SweetSexySavage artist’s third nomination for Best Melodic Rap Performance originates from their involvement in the remix of Jordan Adetunji’s “KEHLANI” in August 2024.
Kehlani is scheduled to finish the European leg of their “CRASH WORLD TOUR” on January 31 in Manchester. They will take over London’s O2 on the night of Wednesday, January 29. The Asia and Australia segments are set to occur in February and March, respectively.
Meanwhile, the 67th annual Grammy Awards will be broadcast on Sunday, February 2, on both Paramount+ and CBS. Doechii, RAYE, and Sabrina Carpenter are among the artists that have been announced as performers.
